Protection of the Unborn

The founding fathers made an important promise in the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States. That promise was that the government the constitution created would “secure the blessings of liberty to our selves and our posterity.” This statement made by the founders, indicates that they believed government served a sole function. This function is the protection of individual liberties and freedoms to all: the born and the unborn posterity to whom the promise was made.

If the founders were the party identified as "ourselves," then ALL UNBORN Americans, would by definition, be their "posterity." The unalienable right to "life and liberty" is guaranteed to both the born and the unborn in the constitution itself.

As a representative, I promise to fight for the unborn by introducing or co-sponsoring legislation that would remove from the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, the hearing of cases involving abortion. In doing so, Congress and/or the states could pass the necessary laws to protect the unborn, without interference from the Supreme Court.

Protection of the Second Amendment

The wording of the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States tells us quite clearly that the right of a citizen to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed."

The argument has been made by those that would limit the right to keep and bear arms, that the National Guard or the reserve component of our military forces constitutes the "well regulated militia" today. This could not be further from the truth.

As with anything written by the founding fathers, we must apply the 18th century understanding of the founders and apply it to today. In the mind of the founders, the militia was the people. The militia was not an instrument of the state, subject to its whims and authority. One of the most important roles of the militia is to defend the people from a government that has become ineffective in the preservation of our liberties.

Without a militia, the people have no defense. Without a militia, the people lose their veto power over tyranny. These facts the founders knew all to well and thus, felt compelled to codify the unalienable right of bearing arms in the very instrument that grants the governments at both the state and federal level their powers.

As your representative, I promise to fight any and all legislation that would limit this fundamental right that Americans enjoy.

Protection of Hard Earned Money

I believe that the fruits of one's labor belong to the one who labored. Our current system of taxation that punishes hard work and productivity is not only unconstitutional, it is immoral. As your representative I will fight to insure that your income stays in your pocket by introducing or co-sponsoring legislation to call for the elimination of all federal income taxes and the Internal Revenue Service.

Protection of Our State Sovereignty

My philosophy, like many of the founders is simple: "A government that governs closest to the people and governs least, governs best." I support the spirit of the tenth amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The belief that a bureaucrat in Washington DC knows what is best for the citizens of Alabama is absurd at best. As your representative, I will fight to insure that any issue that can be best handled in Alabama stays in Alabama.

Protection of our Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Amendment Rights

It is my belief that the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act has done more to reduce our fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh amendment rights than any other piece of legislation in our nation's history. I wholeheartedly believe that it should be repealed immediately. As your representative, I will introduce legislation to repeal unconstitutional laws like the USA PATRIOT Act and restore our constitutionally guaranteed rights.

Protection of Our National Borders

As the men and women of our nation's military fight and die in the deserts of the Middle East to "make our nation safe" we leave our borders and coastlines wide open for any criminal element to come right into the country. No nation can truly be a nation without secure borders and coastlines. As your representative, I will introduce or co-sponsor legislation that will make secure our nation's perimeter.

Protection of Property Rights

Property rights are essential to those who live in a free society. As your representative I will fight to keep federal agencies such as the EPA, from denying property owners their constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property.

Protection of Our Children's Education

The federal government has no constitutional jurisdiction to fund or much less, control our schools. As your representative I will work to abolish the unconstitutional and overly wasteful Department of Education and return its functions to the states. This would allow parents and teachers to directly decide how best to allocate the financial resources and define educational standards.

Protection of Liberty

In today's politically correct climate, freedoms that the founding fathers held sacred are under constant attack. The right of individuals to express themselves or to have their own religious beliefs is under attack by a government that wants to control every facet of our lives. As your representative I will fight to protect the first amendment from unconstitutional legislation.

Protection of Our Currency

With the passage of the Federal Reserve Act almost a century ago, the government of the United States abandoned its duty to provide and protect the standard of currency for our nation. The removal of our currency from the gold standard and replacing it with "paper promises" has weakened not only our currency, but our nation as well. We rely on foreign investors to back our undervalued money and are mounting a debt that our children's children have no hope of paying. As a representative, I will introduce or co-sponsor legislation to bring an end to the Federal Reserve act and return the duty of handling the oversight of our nation's currency to the Congress of the United States.

Protection of Our Military Personnel

Our Constitution makes quite clear the fact that only Congress has the right to declare war. The so-called "police-actions" of the past fifty years have served only two purposes: to make us a hated nation among the members of the global community and to bring to an abrupt end the lives of thousands of our troops. A new approach to foreign intervention is needed immediately. This approach should not involve nation building or expanding our military beyond its intended purpose. As a representative, I will introduce or co-sponsor legislation that will better define the role and purpose of our nation’s military forces and restrict the military from being used as a tool for intervening in the affairs of other nations without provocation.

Protection of Our National Sovereignty

The founders originally intended for the United States to be friends with all nations and allies with none. We did not hold to that philosophy, and as a result, we are now subject to treaties and obligations via organizations that are empowered to tell our country how it is to carry out its business. Organizations such as the UN, the WTO and NAFTA are not beneficial to the meeting of the goals and needs of our nation. As a representative, I will introduce or support legislation to remove the United States from the rolls of all such organizations and restore our sovereignty once and for all.

Illegal Immigration

It has been said that America is the land of opportunity. With the great potential of success that awaits anyone willing to work hard, it is no surprise that people from all over the world want to call the United States of America their home. I welcome anyone from any nation who chooses to come and take up residency in our republic, so long as they do so legally. Those individuals that do not wish to take the legal path to residency and eventually obtain citizenship have no right to remain and the taxpayers have no moral obligation to support them. As a representative I plan to introduce or support legislation that would make it more difficult for the illegal entry into our nation, while streamlining the process for those legally seeking residency or citizenship.
