Hard Bound Memory Books - Tracy Lambert

We are often looking for ways to further preserve our memories and those of our little ones.

This is a pretty nice option offered by Snapfish (if you aren't familiar with Snapfish, email me and I'll send you information!).

They basically allow you to upload your pictures and then have an online tutorial which allows you to arrange them in any order you wish and add captioning.

Because it's one thing to hear someone say that they like a certain product, and it's another to actually see it for yourself, I've uploaded the following example pages.

These pictures are not the greatest quality...I'll try to replace them when I get the chance but I wanted to show that this is a very easy way to record your thoughts and the details about, and for your family. For about $20 and an hour on the computer, you can complete a nice book that is hard bound in your choice of colors personalized for your loved one.

I thought it was a great deal and my children have enjoyed receiving these as gifts.

This first page is actually the cover. At the time of this printing, Snapfish was applying stickers to the front cover. I was glad to learn this morning, that they have stopped, and are now made with a window cut out of the front cover to allow the first picture to show through.

We ended up removing the sticker from ours because we disliked it so much (though Matthew is cute anywhere!!)!

This is the title page of Matthew's book. We entitled it simply, "Happy 7th Birthday!".

This is the dedication page we chose to include in the book.

Snapfish allows you to choose the size of the photos you want on a page. I could have chosen to have a smaller photo, or to have had a couple, or even three photos on this page. The theme of this book was all about Matthew...on this page, I wrote in that Matthew is always helping and how old he was in this picture.

I also included funny things that he has said when some of the pictures were taken. Here, standing on a fort that we visited, he was pretending and yelling "I'm George Washington!".

This is an example of another page layout given in the Snapfish options. On this page, I included Courtney's favorite thing about Matthew and his answer to a silly question I asked him.

This page includes a photo of the day Matthew was born. We only had a disposable camera and the film quality was horrible. I know that there are better ways to do this, but for this page, all I did was take an upclose photo with my digital camera of my old picture, and then upload it to Snapfish. I included my thoughts on the day that he was born.

This is a group photo of most of my children (my family has grown a little since then). Notice, Ben, my baby then (well, always my baby...but you know what I mean!), has red eyes in this picture.
I didn't catch this when I was creating the book online or I could have used the Snapfish easy red eye correction tool.

I included each of my children's favorite things about their brother in this book. I have to say that this photo is a good example of the quality of photo processing by Snapfish. Their colors are vivid and clear.

One more great thing is the borders, and color adjustments that Snapfish allows you to make to photos. I could have added birthday borders to any of these pictures...in this one, I made the photo black and white.

This is the final page of the book. This is an example of using a smaller image on the page by itself. All I wanted to say is that "This is Matthew".

Now, before you ask "do you work for Snapfish?", let me assure you that I do not.

There are many services these days that provide this same product, I am only showing you one example.

With all of the things above said, the one thing that I do not like about these books is the Snapfish advertisement included at the back. If you are going to pay for something, I don't really care to have their advertisements included, but it's easy to remove with an exacto knife!

The point here is that as a HOMEmaker, it is so important that you capture your family history and the details of your family life for your children. Use these types of products as tools to tell the story of your life to generations to come!

**BTW, the $20.00 at Snapfish is good for 20 pages of pictures. You can include less for the same price or more for an additional cost per page. All in all, I thought it was a great deal and one that I plan on continuing to use.
